Update from your ROSA Team

Hi all. We would like to update you on what we are currently doing and our future plans.  Hazel Cox is doing a grand job as social secretary and has also notified those on Facebook about our next Reunion at the Croydon Park Hotel (further details can be found on our Events Page).  The Trust has offered us the use of their The Lodge at the bottom of Reedham Drive for our reunion next summer. It will be good to have our reunion on the Reedham site again after so many years. Hazel will keep you posted as soon as arrangements are finalised.

George, our website manager and treasurer, continues to update the website and we’ve had a lot of ‘hits’ (on average over 500 visits per month during the last 18 months) and this is proving to be a great success! As suggested on Facebook by Dan Tawari, George has now added a new page on the website for the reminiscences http://reedham.org.uk/reminiscences/ and has posted Cyril Dennis’s article, along with a few others, so if anyone wants to write about their experiences, please contact him at rosa@reedham.org.uk 

Sadly, we recently lost Brian Hord, who chaired the Old Scholars Committee and was President too for several years. We plan to re-post one of his articles which he submitted to us in the past. It’s about being evacuated to Nottingham during the war and it’s very interesting. George, Maureen Jones and Derek Pearce will be amongst those going to the funeral in Bexhill-on-Sea on the 17^th September.

George and Mike Paterson have been in touch and had much to talk about. Mike Paterson served as ROSA secretary for many years until Maureen Jones took over.  We visited Robert Attwood at his nursing home and left him with a selection of gifts from our merchandising range. Robert is doing well and will be celebrating his 98th birthday on the 21st October (this is also Trafalgar Day and Robert recalled the times when this used to be a public holiday).

We do still get requests for merchandising and all proceeds now go to the Reedham Trust. I don’t know if anyone remembers the Teuten brothers, but we have recently converted one of their old videos to DVD for them which also had some interesting Reedham footage on it, which we hope to be able to share on an updated Reedham DVD in the near future.
