Rotary Club Christmas Collections

The annual Christmas collections with the Purley Rotary Club took place on Thursday 13th and Saturday 16th December. The Reedham Trust is a joint beneficiary from the proceeds of these two collections. Representatives from The Reedham Trust and ROSA joined with Rotary Club and we were fortunate to have good weather on both days.

The Thursday evening door-to-door collection took place along Old Lodge Lane and many of the surrounding roads. The cause was greatly helped by Santa’s presence alongside all of us and with Santa’s many helpers dressed in suitable festive attire along with the festive music playing out loud to let the residents know that Santa was indeed on his way. The evening for me was summed up wonderfully by one little girl who was stood with her parents outside their front garden gate and the look of sheer delight on her face as she was literally jumping for joy as Santa made his way to her house. Thanks to everyone’s efforts £514.00 was collected on that evening.

The Saturday collection took place outside the Tesco store in Purley between 9am and 6pm. Pairs of Santa’s helpers took turns in one hour shifts to collect donations from the many Christmas shoppers who were out that day. Thanks to everyone’s efforts throughout the day £374.00 was collected.

The normal arrangement with the Rotary Club is for The Reedham Trust to receive half the monies donated during the door-to-door collection and all the monies donated during the Tesco collection. So thanks to the tremendous efforts by all of those involved The Reedham Trust will now benefit by some £630.00.
