AGM UPDATE FOR OUR MEMBERS

Dear ROSA Members,

For those of you who were not able to join us at this year’s Reunion, I would like to share the outcome of the AGM.

Unfortunately, after numerous requests for nominations for the ROSA Officer posts, which were made over the past year (and two years for Treasurer) through Rosabeam and the accompanying letter which was sent to all members and also messages placed on the ROSA website, we did not have any Members who felt able to come forward to stand for the three Officer positions being vacated.

As our Chairman said in his AGM address, this has now brought ROSA to a crossroads.  We understand members’ reluctance to take on these tasks, and the reality is that we are all getting older, and the Association as it currently exists – with a formal Constitution, requiring Officers, a Committee, AGMs etc – is not sustainable.

You may have received the email which was circulated prior to the Reunion (also posted on the ROSA website), where we shared that the Committee have been looking at ways to continue the Association, but with a more informal arrangement, which would not require the structure we have today.

The next steps are that we will shortly be sending out a letter to all Members, explaining the current situation together with the Proposal as to how we continue.  This would be accompanied by a voting slip, which we would ask that you return.

We did ask at the AGM for feedback from Old Scholars, so please do let me know if you have any suggestions that we can incorporate and email these to rosa@reedham.org.uk

As no nominations were received before the AGM, or during the AGM, the meeting agreed for the current Committee to continue until a proposed new structure has been put before all of the members, agreed and then put into place.
