Dear Akaroa, just joined ROSA March 30th 2016 Not certain if I have gone to the correct reply. Firstly, I,m sorry I don't recollect much of Reedham. That said. I am a past female scholar at the School. Attended September 1953 - August 1954. My Father who was killed March 27th. 1943 ( He was a number one. leading Torpedo-Man. On the ill fated H.M.S. DASHER. ) my mother was 5 months pregnant with me. So, she was widowed at 19 years old. Father was 24 / Guess I was entered this world 3 weeks too soon. ( June 8th 1943 ) My mother always said she felt me " Turn " after reading the Telegram. Mother remarried when I was 5 years old. ( kept my fathers Surname, Thompson. He was Scots. From FIFE ) step-father was a rotter, even left his "own" Son, Stephen ( who I. loved dearly ) 11 Years younger then myself. I,m digressing, I returned back home 6 weeks after he was born August 9th 1954, as I don't know if I,m in the right " Section" as it were. I have "memories" of the School. as I first said. ( Not very cheery ones ) fast forward, married a local Fireman at The Scunthorpe Fire Station. I was a General Post Office Telephonist ( 25) He was 28 how time flies. !!! I remember going to the Royal Navy Dockyard. With a few boys & a couple of girls. ( never knew their names.) went aboard a destroyer, and stayed the night at the Navy Dormatries ( Sorry for spelling mistakes ) This was during early morning a nice young woman informed me I had a baby brother ( August 9th. 1954 ) born 6/ 10 am.) Soon after I left Reedham School. Guess, I wouldn't recognise the old School. Now. Have,nt been much help to you. And I,ve rambled.!! I only remember a nice young girl Margaret Farley ( 14) she told me she had a brother ".Basil" / her mother had not told her about him, as he was,nt expected to live. She was a very tall girl, Blonde. Pretty. She left just before myself. I now live in Cleethorpes ( Since Nonember 5th. 1976 ) Husband retired from The Grimsby Fire Service. ( 1993) we had no children sadly. ( my name at the time of Reedham School. Was Pauline, M. j. Thompson. Yourself, or anyone remember me ? Not sure if I should leave my e.mail address.? "HEALTH & HAPPINESS" to you all. (Wherever you all are ) Pauline Pinder.

Hmmm! Not having the best of luck with my posting this morning!! Anyway, as i was saying elsewhere I've been a bit non-plussed by the responses that I've been getting from one of the Reedham pages run by a webmeister named Cliff. I seem to have offended him somehow after i reflected on my Reedham days (1949-51) and, in particular, some of the pranks we got up to. (night-time raids of the bread-room for cake, night-time swimming in the pool having taken the key from the Staff-room, innocent forays to the girl's dorms to see our girlfriends, and general night-time wandering around the building. Only on Saturday night though - the night the Nightwatchman wasn't there) Anyway, I'm an ex-Reedham-ite through and through although i did go out to Purley County Grammer School. (And walk over the Golf course with our/my Reedham girlfriend on her way to Purley County Girls Grammer School.) Sadly, because i live in NZ my opportunities to visit the old place are rare, although some years ago I did manage a trip to have a look at what was left of the old place. I don't want to prolong this but I have to say what sterling memories i have of happy, happy days (and nights!!) at Reedham when i was there in 1949-51 when i left to join the RAF. I've no real idea wht kind of ongoing vamaraderie there is amongst ex-Reedham-ites, (Ol' Cliff wasn't very welcoming!!), but I'm keen to hang on to what remains of my recollections of those years when Joe Bristow kept us in line. (For most of the time anyway) My contemporaries were Mick Whybrow, Derek Pearce, Brian Hord, 'Burger' Banks, Cousins, Rudkin, Garrard, Fraser-Hollins, Eaterbrook One, and a host of others who i can still see in my minds eye. Anyway, good luck and good health to any ex-Reedham-ite reading this. Why not drop me a line?
